This western disturbance will affect south-west Rajasthan and its neighbouring areas till December 27, said an IMD weather report. It will bring moisture from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal to these areas with winds, which will lead to heavy rainfall till December 28.

According to the IMD forecast, a new and active western disturbance will affect the weather in the western Himalayan region between 26 December 2024 and 1 January 2025 and in the plains between 27 December and 1 January. There is a possibility of widespread snowfall and rain in the western Himalayan region including Himachal Pradesh during 26-28 December, while maximum rainfall is forecast on 27 and 28 December. Light to moderate snowfall is expected in many areas of the state, especially in the high altitude areas. 

The IMD has urged residents and travelers to prepare for the cold weather and take necessary precautions in areas prone to snowfall and frost. The predicted snowfall is expected to add to the beauty of the valleys of Himachal Pradesh, allowing tourists to experience the best weather there at the end of the year. 

However, road traffic has been affected a lot recently after snowfall in Himachal. 223 roads including three national highways have been closed there. The maximum number of 145 roads were closed in Shimla while 25 roads were closed in Kullu and 20 in Mandi districts. Due to this, the tourists who reached there are stuck. There are long lines of vehicles on the roads. Therefore, if you plan to go there, then first take a look at the traffic activities.
