  • Paneer – 250 grams
  • Boiled potatoes – 2 (medium size)
  • Cornflour – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt – according to taste
  • Cashews and raisins – 1/4 cup (for stuffing)
  • Red chili powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam masala – 1/4 teaspoon
  • Oil – for frying

For gravy:

  • Tomatoes – 4 (make puree)
  • Onion – 2 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger-garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
  • Green chili – 2 (finely chopped)
  • Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder – 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red chili powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
  • Cream – 1/4 cup
  • Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing

Method of making Paneer Kofta

  1. Preparing the koftas
  2. Grate the paneer in a large vessel and mash the boiled potatoes in it.
  3. Prepare a smooth mixture by adding cornflour, salt, red chili powder and garam masala to it.
  4. Make small balls of this mixture and fill 1-2 pieces of cashew and raisin in each ball and make round shaped koftas.
  5. Now heat oil in a pan and deep fry these koftas till they turn golden brown. Take them out on tissue paper and let the excess oil absorb.
  6. Preparing the gravy
  7. Heat oil in a pan and add finely chopped onion and fry till golden brown.
  8. Now add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  9. Add tomato puree and cook well with spices (coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder) till the oil separates from the gravy.
  10. Add half a cup of water to the gravy and bring it to a boil. After this, add cream and cook for another minute.
  11. Finally, add garam masala and salt and let the gravy cook on low flame till it thickens.
  12. Adding koftas to the gravy
  13. When the gravy is ready, turn off the gas.
  14. Add koftas to the gravy just before serving so that they do not break.
  15. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
