Tomato Chutney Recipe:

  • 4-5 ripe tomatoes (finely chopped)
  • 1/2 cup jaggery (grated)
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 pinch black salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Few coriander leaves (for garnishing)

Method:

Cook the tomatoes

Firstly, add chopped tomatoes in a pan and let it cook on medium flame. Cook the tomatoes till they become soft.

Add jaggery and spices

Now add grated jaggery to the tomatoes and mix lightly. Then add red chili powder, cumin powder, fennel powder, salt, black salt, and garam masala and mix well.

Add water and cook

Now add half a cup of water and cook on low flame till it thickens. During this time keep stirring the chutney in between so that the jaggery and spices mix well with the tomatoes.

The chutney is ready

When the chutney thickens and starts to have a sweet and sour taste, remove it from the gas. When it cools down, take it out in a bowl and garnish it with green coriander leaves.

Serve:
