Avoid Sugar For a Month: Before you start reading
this article, you have to answer some questions-
1. Do you work 8–10 hours in the fields every day?
2. Do you run 10–15 kilometres daily?
3. Do you spend an hour every day in the gym doing high intensity exercises, weight training, cardio and muscle training?
4. Is your profession one that requires muscular strength and sweating?
If any of the above applies to you, then this article is not for you. Eat as much sugar as you want and be happy.
Avoid Sugar For a Month
But if you –
1. Sitting on a sofa or chair, working on a laptop for 10 to 12 hours a day.
2. Sitting at one place for 8 to 10 hours a day.
3. Stand at the shop counter for 8 to 10 hours a day.
4. Only do household work like cooking, taking care of children etc.
So this article is for you only. Overall, this article is for those whose life style is sedentary i.e. they work sitting in one place.
What you have to do is to completely stop eating sugar, that is, any kind of added sugar, for one month. To understand why you have to do this, look at these two science studies-

According to a 2018 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, eating sugar or added sugar causes these things-
- Weight gain
- The risk of heart disease increases
- Cholesterol increases
- Insulin increases, which means the risk of diabetes increases
- cognitive function weakens
- Fatty liver increases

In a study published in the National Library of Medicine in 2016, an experiment was conducted on rats. In this, the rats were divided into two groups. One was given sugar-based food and the other was kept away from sugar.
After a month, the researchers left the rats of both the groups in water and observed that the rats that were eating sugar for a month did not try hard to save their lives and started drowning. Whereas the rats of the other group were more physically active. They were trying to get out of the water by swimming and jumping. The researchers found that sugar had weakened the physical activity and cognitive function of the rats.
So let’s start experimenting now
Professor Robert Lustig of the Endocrinology Department of the University of California writes in his book ‘Fat Chance’ – “Consider this a scientific experiment conducted on your body. To know whether the warnings given to us by scientific research around the world regarding sugar have any truth in them or not.”

Avoid Sugar For a Month: This experiment can be done by anyone above 18 years of age with a sedentary life style. There is no age or gender limit in this. So, according to before starting this experiment on our body, we have to do these things-
1. Check your weight.
2. Check your morning fasting and two hours after eating blood sugar levels.
3. Apart from this, get the following medical tests done-

- Morning fasting insulin test
- Fatty Liver Test
- Lipid Profile Test
- Triglycerides Test
- Thyroid Tests

What will we have to do in this experiment
In this one month experiment, you have to completely abstain from sugar and added sugar. Remember, there is not a single cheat day in this experiment. All these are products made by processing sugar in different ways. That is, sweet products made at different stages in the process of converting sugarcane juice into sugar.

The easiest way to deal with this problem is to read the label of any product while buying it. Apart from this, completely avoid the things mentioned in the graphic given below.
Sweetened only from natural sources
Go to any supermarket or grocery store. All the packaged items being sold have added sugar. Even those which are salty in taste. Therefore, do not eat any packaged food.
But this does not mean that your taste buds will be completely deprived of the sweet taste. You can eat every sweet thing that nature has made sweet. Such as all types of fruits, starchy vegetables like sweet potatoes. The sweetness of anything that is not grown on plants and is made in a factory is dangerous.
Just sweets are not enough, also avoid ultra-processed carbs and trans fats
Avoid Sugar For a Month, According, in this one month experiment, we have to abstain not only from sugar but also from ultra-processed carbs and trans fats. Ultra-processed carbs mean those carbs whose entire fiber and nutrients have been removed and converted into a fine flour-like powder.
Avoid Sugar For a Month, Pizza, burger, donut, bread, cake, pastry, cookies, all these are ultra processed carb and trans fat. This is a red alert. In this experiment, we can eat everything that nature has given us. All fruits, vegetables, grains, pulses, spices, milk, ghee, curd, dry fruits, nuts, seeds etc.
